October 25, 2025Restoring Tranquillity at Mount St Bernard Abbey Monastery
At G&V Gallagher, we’re proud to support projects that not only deliver essential infrastructure but also make a positive difference to the communities where we work.
As part of our ongoing collaboration with GEDA Construction on Severn Trent’s High Tor project, our team recently joined forces to assist with a local volunteering initiative at Mount St Bernard Abbey Monastery, located close to the High Tor site in Coalville.
Supporting the Local Community
The Abbey’s historic pond, once a peaceful space for the resident monks, had become overgrown and unusable over time. Determined to bring this tranquil area back to life, our team worked alongside GEDA to help clear dense vegetation, re-dig the pond, and restore the surrounding landscape.
Making a Real Impact
In total, over 66 volunteering hours – the equivalent of eight full working days – were dedicated to the project. The transformation has allowed the monks to once again enjoy this serene outdoor space, and their gratitude has been truly heart-warming.
To complete the restoration, benches will be donated and installed, ensuring this beautiful area can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.
Collaboration in Action
This initiative is a fantastic example of how collaboration across our industry can create lasting value beyond the construction site. We’d like to extend a huge thank-you to our partners at GEDA Construction and Severn Trent, as well as Fisher German LLP, for their shared commitment to supporting local communities and delivering meaningful social impact.
